About Us
We're a club for Japanese international students, for students studying Japanese and for people who are interested in Japan. In a nutshell anyone can join, you don't have to be a part of anything; everybody can join! We are affiliated with the University of Melbourne Student Union.
The club holds a variety of social and cultural activities throughout the year: our events are friendly and relaxed, and our main goal is for our members to enjoy themselves! Our events also provide opportunities for members to interact with others sharing an interest in Japan, to further their understanding of Japan, and to gain another perspective on their studies of Japan and the Japanese language.
Also see our our Photo Page for photo's of past events and our Facebook Group for more information!
The structure of the club and its regulations are outlined in the club's constitution.
Membership
Who can join?
Membership is open to all students and staff of The University of Melbourne. Everyone else is more than welcome to join as associate members.
How do I join?
Yearly membership is $5 for non-student union members and $2 for student union members.
Come to a club event, in particular our weekly KAIWA sessions, and tell the person in charge that you'd like to become a member. Please do not send emails requesting membership, since we need to collect money off you somehow and we can't collect money via email.
Another great way is to look out for our signup table at O-Week which occurs just before the start of each semester.
What do members get?
